First Myofascial Therapy Appointment: What Do You Need to Bring?

Ideally, you should come wearing comfortable clothing. If a specific area, such as your knee, neck, or shoulder requires treatment, please make sure it is easily accessible.

At the appointment, you will be asked a number of questions regarding your current problem and past medical history. Next, a physical examination will provide a look at strength, flexibility, and other necessary tests to determine the cause of your pain. You will be informed of the findings and usually given some instructions or exercises to begin working on at home, as well as, hands-on treatment.

What Should You Expect for Subsequent Myofascial Therapy Visits?

Your treatment session will depend on the findings of the initial examination, but may include; joint mobilization and soft tissue work as appropriate. Goals will be regularly assessed, as well as, re-evaluation of strength, range of motion,  etc.

How Long Does Myofascial Therapy Take?

The benefit of providing one-on-one care is that each person’s issue is based on his or her presentation. While it may depend on the length of time the issue has been present, providing tailored treatment and education to each patient allows for much shorter treatment plans. The sooner something is assessed and treated, the faster the recovery and return to health.
